Welcome to CFACE, Interim Director, Dr. Chris Mayhorn
We are so pleased to introduce our new Interim Director, Dr. Chris Mayhorn. Dr. Mayhorn grew up in Monroe, North Carolina, and joined the faculty at North Carolina State University in 2002. He also currently serves as the Psychology Department Head and Professor in the Human Factors and Applied Cognition Psychology graduate program on campus. Much of his research involves human factors and ergonomics, where he seeks out and addresses the needs of people using technology (or other services). A great example of this work is a recent collaboration with other NC State researchers and the City of Wilson, NC, where they worked to design a microtransit system for under-represented citizens. As interim director, his goal is to prepare CFACE for its next permanent director. He wants to leave CFACE as strong (if not stronger) than when he came onboard. To do this, he is helping restructure the organization and processes so that we are efficient and able to accomplish all of our tasks to the best of our abilities. He is excited to think about how the Center’s work makes an impact on people’s daily lives. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, reading, running, and spending time with family and friends. We are honored to work alongside him. Welcome aboard, Dr. Mayhorn!
