Center Spotlight: Michelle White

Michelle White with Dog Evie

It’s time for another look into our organization and the wonderful people that make up the Center for Family and Community Engagement! Meet Michelle White, one of our amazing Graduate Research Assistants. Michelle is currently earning her Masters/Specialist Degree in School Psychology from North Carolina State University. She has worked with the Center from the very start of her graduate school career, starting in the fall of 2017.

Michelle has contributed a variety of skills, services, and knowledge to the Center. For example, she has conducted both quantitative and qualitative research on co-training data, the family partner training model, and literature on the use of vulnerability in training. Moreover, Michelle supports online course development, assists with internal Center structures, and has created a weekly email listserv that facilitates wellness and happiness among Center staff. These are just a few examples of Michelle’s strong work ethic and certainly do not encompass all that she does for the Center.

Michelle intends to start her school psychology internship this fall at Wilson County Schools upon completion of her masters. She hopes to work as a school psychologist in low-income elementary schools, and with students who have faced trauma. Although Michelle’s time with the Center will soon come to a close, we hope to maintain our connection with this incredibly talented and intelligent person! Michelle plans to use everything she has learned and developed from working at the Center in her new career as a school psychologist, specifically being an advocate for foster youth. Michelle will certainly be missed by her friends and co-workers here at the Center. We are very proud to have her on our team, and can’t wait to see where life takes her next!

Michelle spends most of her free time hanging out with her dog, Evie (pictured above). She also enjoys hiking and exploring all the food options Raleigh has to offer. For additional information on Michelle, please visit her staff page.
