CFFACE Spotlight: Claudia’s Voice Reaches National and Local Audiences
The Center for Family and Community Engagement would like to take some time to recognize, appreciate, and highlight one of its senior staff members, Claudia Kearney.
Claudia has become a sought after speaker and trainer on topics such as Diversity, Cultural Awareness, and Domestic Violence. She has presented numerous times over the past 10 years to local and national audiences on family group decision making, cultural safety, domestic violence, military culture, and engaging fathers. Moreover, based on the positive feedback and high attendance in her workshops, she has been asked to return as a speaker to national conferences sponsored by American Humane Association, Kempe, and Safe and Together.
Claudia’s down to earth, non-judgemental, and approachable style easily allows her to connect with audiences from many backgrounds and disciplines such as legal, business, community agencies, undergraduate and graduate students, and social workers. The skill with which she engages her audiences, while also challenging them through the learning process, is frequently something participants share they admire most about her presentations and trainings.
This past October, Claudia was invited to be the keynote speaker at the first ever Durham (County) Human Services Domestic Violence Forum. (Held on October 8, 2018.) For photos of the event, please see this link: https://www.facebook.com/DurhamDSS/videos/240577166638131/. Claudia then went on to present at the 2018 Kempe International Conference on Innovations in Family Engagement on the topic of culture.
