“Real World” simulation for teens

Center trainer Susan Gasman joined a number of youth from SaySo (Strong Able Youth Speaking Out), social services providers, and local business professionals in hosting another successful Real World event on June 16, 2015 in Pender County. SaySo Real World events are one-day real life simulations where teens and young adults, ages 16 to 20, can practice face-to-face social skills and get linked to information and resources to help them with fiscal management, decision making, and lifestyle choices. Susan had the opportunity to connect with 100 youth throughout the course of the day in both small and large groups. The groups discussed how to communicate clearly with adults and peers, as well as the child and family team process and its importance to their future planning and goal development.
