National Parents Day is celebrated annually on the fourth Sunday in July. This year, National Parents Day falls on Sunday, July 26. This day recognizes the hard work and dedication parents are committed to, as well as the role parents play in the lives of children and our world. It celebrates parenting as a team effort, which honors the ways in which all guardians show up for their children.
Celebrate National Parents Day as a Family
You don’t need big plans to make the day meaningful. Here are a few ideas for families in the Triangle to celebrate together:
- Paddle around Lake Johnson. Rent a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard through Wake Rack and spend some time on the water as a family.
- Catch a free outdoor concert. Check out a local summer concert series. Raleigh offers Live After 5, LIVE at Lake Raleigh, Midtown Beach Music Series and more! Check out more live music series in the Triangle.
- Explore Dix Park. Wander the grounds, catch the sunflower bloom or check out the trolls.
- Visit Marbles Kids Museum or the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. Both offer hands-on, air-conditioned fun for a hot July afternoon.
- Cook a favorite family recipe together. Ask a parent to share a recipe that means something to them, and make it as a family.
- Write a heartfelt note. A simple, handwritten thank-you can mean the world to parents.
